Death Certificaitons
Who May Receive Copies of Death Records

*All Family members
*Genealogists representing famiy members
*Professionally recognized genealogists
*An attorney acting on behalf of the registrant or his or her family
*A physician acting on behalf of the registrant or his or her family
*Authorized agent acting on behalf of the registrant or his or her family; an  
  authorized agent shall produce a signed statement by the registrant or a
  member of his or her family authorizing the release of a record to the
  applicant
*A funeral director may act as the official representatvie of a family to obtain
  copies of death certificates
*Others may demonstrate a direct and tangible interest when information is
  needed for determination or protection of personal or property rights
*Representatives of heir-tracing companies

Birth and Fetal Death Records Death Records
$15 per record
$15 for each additional copy $13 per record
$10 for each additional copy
The death certificate provides important information about the decedent such as age, sex, race, date of birth, his/her parents, and if married, the name of the spouse; information on circumstances and cause of death; and final disposition. This information is used in the application for insurance benefits, settlements of pension claims, and transfer of title of real and personal property.
